Molasses Pudding

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup raisins
  • For the sauce:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 4 Tbsp sherry or brandy
Cream the butter. Add the molasses, then hot water. Beat in the flour in which the baking soda has been sifted through. Slowly stir in the raisins.

Put in a greased mold and steam for 3 hours.

For the sauce, cream the butter and sugar together. Add the thoroughly beaten eggs andcombine and stir. Sherry or brandy may be added, if you prefer.

Set on the stove in a pan of cold water. Let the water come to a boil.

Serve the sauce hot.
