Apple Meringue with Custard

  • 1 quart apple sauce
  • 4 Tbsps lemon juice
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 large cup sugar
Strain the apple sauce through a colander. Put it in the dish in which it is to be served. Beat the egg whites to a stiff froth, adding a little sugar. Cover the apple sauce with the frosting. Set in the oven to brown. Serve with whipped cream (or a little more)ft custard.
