Boiled Apple Dumpling

  • 1 lb prepared flour
  • 1 Tbsp butter or lard
  • Salt
  • Cold water or milk
  • Tart apples, pared & cored
Combine the flour, butter or lard, a little salt and enough cold water or milk for a stiff dough. Roll it out and cut it in as many pieces as you have apples.

Put the apple in the center of the crust. Bring the corners up over the apple. Close it over the top and tie each one in a square of muslin.

Drop them in a pot of boiling water. Boil for 45 glorious minutes or until the apple is tender.

Serve with butter, sugar and cream.
