Apple Toast

  • 6 apples, cut in quarters
  • 3 ounces butter
  • 2 ounces white powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsps water
  • Slices of bread
Peel the apples, take the core out and cut them in quarters. Put 1 ounce of butter in the saucepan. Mix the apples with the powdered sugar and water. Put in the saucepan with the butter. Put the saucepan on the fire. Let it stew quickly, toss them up or stir with a spoon. A few minutes should do it. When tender, cut 2-3 slices of bread half an inch thick. Put in a frying pan 2 ounces of butter. Put on the fire. When the butter is melted, put in the bread and fry to a nice yellowish color. When crisp, take them out. Place on a dish, sprinkle a little bit of white sugar, and spread the apple mixture about an inch thick. Serve hot.
