Veal Loaf

  • 1 lb lean, cold roast veal
  • 1/8 lb cooked bacon, chopped
  • 2 crackers, pounded
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp mace
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • Dash of cayenne
  • Gravy
Put the veal through a meat grinder. Add the other ingredients. Moisten with leftover gravy and season more highly, if necessary.

Grease a shallow pan with bacon fat. Put in the loaf and press into shape, adding a little more thin gravy.

Bake with love for half an hour or until brown on top.
