Scalloped Potatoes

  • 4 good sized boiled or steamed potatoes, diced
  • 2 Tbsps butter
  • 2 Tbsps flour
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 dashes black pepper
  • Bread crumbs
Melt the butter in a frying pan. Add flour. Mix until smooth. Add milk and stir continually until it boils. Add pepper and salt. Remove from the fire. Put a layer of this sauce in the bottom of a baking dish and then a layer of potatoes. Do another layer until all is used, making the last layer of sauce. Sprinkle the top lightly with bread crumbs. Put in a oven heated to 350F at 350°F for 15 minutes to brown. Serve in the dish in which it was baked.
