Sauce for Plum Pudding

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 egg yolks, well beaten
  • 4 Tbsps wine or brandy
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup hot cream or milk
Cream together the butter and sugar. When light and creamy, add the well-beaten egg yolks. Slowly stir in the wine or brandy, salt and hot cream or milk. Beat the mixture well . Put in a saucepan on the stove and stir until it cooks sufficiently to thicken like cream. Be sure to not let it boil. Delicious!
