Raspberry Buns
- 1 lb flour
- 1/2 lb lard
- 6 ounces sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg, well beaten
- A little milk
- Jam
Put the flour in a bowl and rub the lard in through and through. Add salt, sugar and baking powder. Add the beaten egg and enough milk to make the mixture into a rather stiff paste.
Knead lightly and roll, roll, roll out about 1/4 of an inch thick. Cut into rounds and wet the edges. Place a little jam in the center of each and fold over. Pinch the edges together and flatten slightly. Put on a greased baking sheet.
Bake in a quick oven at 400°F for 20 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
