Preserved Whole Berries
- 2 lbs berries
- 1 lb sugar
- 1 cup water
Choose berries that are not too ripe. Wash and put in glass jars, filling each one about 2/3 full.
Put in the pot a pound of sugar and 1 cup water for every 2 pounds of fruit. Let it come slowly to a boil. Pour this syrup into the jars over the berries, filling them up to the brim. Set the jars in a pan of cold water on the stove. Let the water boil and the fruit become scalding hot. Take them out and seal tight.
