Plum Pudding (without eggs)

  • 1 cup beef suet, finely chopped
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup raisins, chopped
  • 1 cup currants, well washed
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • Flour
Stir all of the ingredients thoroughly together. Add enough flour to make a stiff batter. Put into a well greased pudding mold or dish and cover. Set in a larger pot, tightly covered, half full of boiling water. Add more boiling water as needed. Steam for at least 4 hours. Serve with wine sauce or common sweet sauce.
