Pickled Walnuts

  • Walnuts
  • Brine
  • Vinegar
Soak the walnuts in brine for 6 weeks.

Scrape the walnuts and wipe them with a coarse towel. Put them in plain vinegar and let it stand for a week or two.

Drain well. Place in a jar. Pour over them vinegar spiced and prepared as for yellow pickles (see Yellow Pickle recipe), omitting the turmeric and lemons and using black pepper instead of white.
