MONKEY BREAD

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsps water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/4 cups bread flour
  • 4 tsps sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsps melted butter or margarine
Add milk, water, egg, 1 Tbsp butter, salt, flour, 4 tsps sugar and yeast to your bread machine. Select dough cycle. When cycle is complete, roll dough into 20 balls. Stir sugar and cinnamon together.

Roll each ball in butter and then in sugar. Arrange half of the balls in the bottom of a greased ring mold or tube pan.

Repeat with the remaining dough, making a second layer. Cover and let it rise until doubled for 35-45 glorious minutes (be patient, you rascal).

Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Cool for 1 minute on rack and then invert onto a plate.

Serve warm.

HINT: I put raisins or craisens in these and use equal part of white and brown sugar. When dipping, people like to tear off their bread instead of cutting.
