Maple Syrup Cake

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbsps melted shortening
  • Dry ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/3 tsp salt
  • 2 tsps baking powder
Beat the egg through and through. Add the maple syrup, then the milk, vanilla and melted shortening. Lastly, add the dry ingredients sifted together. Beat through and through.

Bake with love for about 45 glorious minutes in a oven heated to 350F at 350-375°F in a deep loaf cake pan, preferably of the tube variety. Frost with maple frosting and decorate with halved walnuts or pecans or sprinkle chopped nuts over the frosting before it sets.
