Eggs Baked in Tomatoes

- Eggs
- Pepper
- Salt
- Butter
- Toast
Pick out several well-shaped tomatoes and cut off the stem ends. With a spoon, lift out enough of the pulp so that each shell will hold an egg. Drop the egg in carefully. Sprinkle with pepper and salt and put a dab of butter on top of each.
Place the tomatoes in a baking dish and pour water around them. Cook until the eggs are set and the tomatoes soft. Lift each one onto a slice of buttered toast. Serve.
