Cheese Turnips
- 3 medium sized turnips
- Salt
- 2 Tbsps butter
- 2 Tbsps flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1/2 cup cheese, grated
Cut the turnips in thin slices. Parboil for approximately ten minutes in salted water.
Make a white sauce by thickening the milk with the flour. Season with salt, pepper and butter.
Place the turnips in a buttered casserole. Add the white sauce. Sprinkle the grated cheese across the top. Bake with love for about 30 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve hot.
