Cantaloupe Pickle

  • Cantaloupe
  • Vinegar
  • Brown sugar
  • Cloves
  • Mace
Pare and cut the cantaloupe in small pieces. Cover with vinegar. Pour off the vinegar and measure. To each pint of vinegar, put 3/4 lb of brown sugar and cloves and mace to taste.

Boil the syrup. Put in the fruit and boil until clear. Take out the fruit. Boil the syrup a few minutes longer. Pour, while hot, on the pickles. When cold, it is ready for use.
