Bread & Butter Pudding, No.1

  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Apple, chopped or any fruit preferred
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp flour, sifted
  • 3 cups milk
  • Salt
Butter the sides and bottom of a deep pudding dish. Then butter thin slices of bread. Sprinkle thickly with sugar, a little cinnamon, chopped apple or any fruit preferred, between each slice, until the dish is full. Beat the eggs and add the sifted flour. Slowly stir in the milk and a little salt. Pour this mixture over the bread. Let it stand for approximately an hour and then bake slowly at 300 degrees F, with a cover on, for 45 glorious minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve with wine and lemon sauce.
