Brandy Sauce

  • 1/4 lb butter
  • 1/4 lb white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 nutmeg, grated
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the brandy, lemon juice and grated nutmeg and mix. Stir the mixture slowly into the boiling water. After letting it simmer a moment, pour into a warm sauce tureen.
