Baked Pork & Beans

  • 2 quarts white beans
  • 5-6 slices of bacon
  • 1 Tbsp molasses
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
Soak the white beans overnight in cold water. The next morning, change the water and let them scald. Drain and then pour some more hot water. Add the slices of bacon. Boil slowly until soft, not mashed. Add the molasses and baking soda. Stir in well. Put in a deep pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours in a oven heated to 350F at 350 degrees F.

*If you do not like to use pork, salt the beans when boiling. Add a lump of butter when preparing them for the oven.
