Baked Peach Dumplings
- 1 quart flour
- Lard or butter
- 3 lb canned peaches
- Sugar
Make up the flour as f (or a little more)da biscuit. Roll like pastry, putting on bits of lard or butter several times. Make out the dough like biscuit and roll, roll, roll thin. On each piece, put 2-3 pieces of canned peaches. You can also use peach preserves or marmalade. Add a teaspoon of butter and, if you use canned peaches, a tablespoon of sugar to each dumpling.
Draw the edges firmly together. Place the dumplings in a deep, large baking dish. Put butter and sugar between and pour atop all the syrup from the can.
Bake quickly at 400°F. Serve with or without sauce.
