Apple Sauce Cake

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup thick apple sauce
  • 1 cup raisins or nuts, chopped (optional)
  • Dry ingredients:
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Dissolve baking soda in apple sauce and add. Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture, Add enough flour to make fairly stiff batter (amount of flour depends on thickness of apple sauce.) Bake at 350 degrees F for approximately an hour in well greased tin.
