Apple Custard
- 3 cups stewed apples
- 1/2 cup sugar
- nutmeg
- 6 eggs
- 1 quart milk
- lemon peel
Stew lemon peel with apples, cook until tender, and mash. Mix sugar with mashed apples, and chill. Beat eggs until light and stir into milk, alternating with apples. Bake in cups of baking dish for about 20 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Serve with nutmeg grated across the top.
