1 quart juicy, tart apples - peeled & sliced very thin
4 ounces hot water
1 pint sour milk
1 ounce butter
1 tsp baking soda
Put the sliced apples in a buttered pudding dish or shallow tin pan. Pour the hot water over them.
Mix the sour milk, a little salt, butter and flour to make a stiff batter. Put in last the baking soda in a little hot water.
Bake with love for half an hour if in a flat tin; longer if in a pudding dish.
Serve with butter, sugar and cream.
