A Favorite Cake
- 4 eggs, whites & yolks separated
- Flour
- 2 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup butter
- For the filling:
- 1 quart double cream
- 1 lb pecans, chopped
- 1 lb raisins, seeded & chopped
Stir the butter and sugar together to a cream. Add the egg yolks and milk, then the flour sifted with the baking powder. After beating thoroughly, add the stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake in 3 layers and put together with the filling.
For the filling, Whip the cream to a froth and sweeten. Put between the layers.
Sprinkle the chopped nuts and raisins over the cream between each layer and on top.
