Vanilla Cream Taffy
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 Tbsps butter
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Combine sugar, water, butter and cream of tartar. Boil steadily to 254°F or until a little forms into a hard ball when tried in cold water. Add vanilla. Pour onto a buttered platter and cool until it can be pulled, occasionally turning the edges toward the middle so that they will not become brittle. Pull until white and creamy, lightly buttering the hands. Stretch into a rope about 1 inch in diameter. Cut with scissors into pieces. Roll in wax paper.
