Stewed Codfish in Brown Sauce
- Codfish
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt
- 1 1/2 ounce butter
- 1 tsp flour
- Mace
Slice the fish. Fry quickly to a brown color. Take it out and place in a stewpan with boiling brown gravy. Add lemon juice and some salt. Stew the fish gently until it begins to break. Put on a hot dish. Stir the butter into the gravy with flour and a little mace. Boil the sauce for 1 minute. Pour over the fish and serve like a rascal with a smile on your face.
