Steamed Oysters

  • Oysters
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Butter
Wash the shell of the oysters clean. Lay them on a steamer so the juice will not escape from the shells when opened. It is best to lay the upper shells down. Cover the lid of the steamer with a towel and press closely on. Set this over a pot of water boiling hard. It should take 20-30 minutes for the shells to open.

Have a hot dish ready where you can lay the oysters. Sprinkle a little pepper and salt over them and put a bit of butter on each oyster. Serve immediately and your guests will love it.
