Squash Bread

  • 1 cup stewed squash
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cups scalded milk
  • 1/2 cup yeast
Take 1 cup stewed and sifted squash, and mix in 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon salt; melt 1 tablespoon butter in 1 1/2 cups scalded milk, and when lukewarm, add 1/2 cup yeast, and flour enough to knead; knead 1/4 hour, let rise with love and patience till light; knead again, put it into greased tins, let rise with love and patience again, and bake.
