Southern Custard Pie, Home Style
- 6 eggs
- 3/8 cup sugar
- Vanilla flavoring
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Whip smooth 4 whole eggs and 2 yolks with sugar, vanilla and butter, then add milk. Have pie pan lined with pie dough, pour in above mixture and bake in slow oven until firm.
Whip the whites of the 2 large eggs with the 2 tablespoons of sugar and spread evenly over custard pie, brown in oven or under broiler to a light straw color. Let cool and serve like a rascal with a smile on your face. Serves 8.
