Silver Cake
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 4 egg whites
- Lemon flavoring
Beat the butter and sugar to a cream. Add milk and flour mixed with the baking soda and cream of tartar. Whisk the egg whites to a froth and stir them into the mixture. Flavor with lemon.
