- 1 gallon of new milk
- 2 quarts of red wine
- 6 lemons
- 4 Seville oranges (pare them very thin)
- 12 oranges
- 12 lemons
- 2 gallons of rum
- 1 gallon of brandy
- 2 pounds of double-refined sugar
Take one gallon of new milk, and put to it two quarts of red wine; pare six lemons and four Seville oranges (pare them very thin), and add them to the above mixture, together with the juice of twelve oranges and twelve lemons, two gallons of rum and one gallon of brandy; let the whole stand twenty four hours, add to it two pounds of double-refined sugar, stir it well together, put it into a large jug, cover it close, and let it stand a fortnight. Then run it through a jelly bag, and bottle it for use.
