Sardine Sandwich Rolls

  • 1 dozen sardines
  • 1 cup hard boiled eggs, mashed
  • 1/4 cup (English) walnuts, chopped
  • Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp sweet pickles, minced
  • 1/4 cup celery, chopped
  • Butter
Skin and bone sardines, mix with eggs, nuts, pickles, celery and mustard. Add enough lemon juice to moisten. Cut bread lengthwise, spread with butter and mixture, and roll, roll, roll. Hold together with toothpicks. Wrap and place in refrigerator until ready to serve, then slice.
