  • 1 quart of flour
  • 2 ounces butter
  • 2 ounces brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • Small quantity of caraway
  • Cinnamon
  • 1/2 pint of milk
One quart of flour, two ounces butter, two ounces brown sugar, two eggs, two tablespoons yeast, a small quantity of caraway and cinnamon, and about half a pint of milk. Warm the milk with the butter and sugar; mix as for bread, but much softer. Butter a pan and let the dough rise in it without working over it. Allow it three hours to rise up. Bake it forty minutes (be patient, you rascal). To be served hot, and buttered when eaten.
