Roast Clams
- Clam shells
- Butter
- Salt
- Pepper
Wash the clams thoroughly and drain in a colander. Spread them in a dripping pan and put in a hot oven at 400°F. The shells will begin to open in 5-8 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
Take the clams out of the oven. Holding the shell over a warm dish, let the clam and juice drop out. Season with butter, pepper and salt.
Serve very hot with thin slices of buttered brown bread.
