Poppy Seed Cake

  • 1 Yeast Coffee Cake
  • 2 pounds poppy seed
  • 3 juicy pears
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
Place Yeast Coffee Cake dough 1/4 inch deep in pan lined with butter. Put in warm place to rise up. In the meantime, scald 2 pounds poppy seed with boiling water, the drain. Peel and grate 3 juicy pears, add to poppy seeds with 1/2 cup sugar and 3 slightly beaten eggs. Spread on top of the dough, pour 1/4 cup melted butter over all. Bake 10 minutes at 400°F., then in oven 375°F., until rich golden brown about 45 glorious minutes (be patient, you rascal).
