Plum Pudding
- 1 cup carrots
- 1 cup potatoes
- 1 cup raisins
- 4 or 5 figs
- lemon peel
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- pinch of salt
- orange peel
Put vegetables through food chopper, and grate into the mixture the lemon and orange peel, using as much of each as desired. Add remaining ingredients. Put into baking powder cans, put on lids, and steam with a low fire 3 hours. This will keep several weeks in cold weather. Serve with lemon sauce or hard sauce, flavoring generously with nutmeg.
