Plain Pie Crust

  • 2 1/2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup lard, cold
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 heaping tsp baking powder
Sift the baking powder through the flour. Rub the shortening thoroughly into the flour. Add the rest of the ingredients. Mix together with 2 ounces of cold water, or enough to form a rather stiff dough. Mix as little as possible, just enough to get it into shape to roll out. It must be handled very delicately. This recipe is good for 2 pies.
