Orange Float

  • 1 quart water
  • Juice and pulp of 2 lemons
  • 1/2 pint sugar
  • 4 Tbsps cornstarch
  • 4-5 oranges, sliced
  • 3 egg whites, beaten
  • Vanilla extract
Mix the water, lemon juice and pulp, and sugar in a pan. Put on fire and when hot to the point of boiling, add the cornstarch. Let boil for 15 minutes, stirring all the time. When cold, pour atop the orange slices that are in a glass dish. Over the top, spread the beaten egg whites, sweetened and flavored with vanilla.
