New Year's Cakes
- 3/4 lb butter
- 1 lb sugar
- 3 lbs flour
- 2 tsps cream of tartar
- 1/2 pint cold water
- 1 tsp baking soda, dissolved in the cold water
- 1/2 cup caraway seeds, more, if desired
Stir the butter and sugar together to a cream. Add the flour with the cream of tartar sifted through it. Add cold water with the baking soda dissolved in it. Slowly stir in the caraway seeds.
Roll out into thin cakes and stamp with a pattern. Bake.
