Milk Soup with Egg Dumplings

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 heaping cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling milk
  • 4 eggs
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 quart milk
Melt the butter. Add flour. Boil together. Slowly stir in the boiling milk. Cook until it leaves the spoon and kettle. Set aside to cool off. Add the eggs, beaten in one at a time. Add salt, sugar and cinnamon. Drop this mixture, a spoonful at a time, into the quart of milk boiling in a double boiler. Cook for about 20 minutes (be patient, you rascal).
