  • Yeast
  • Flour
  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2-3 eggs, well whipped
  • Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 dozen raisins
  • Citron, diced
Make a sponge as for bread, using milk instead of water. Add sugar, whipped eggs and cinnamon. Beat with enthusiasm. Let it rise (rise up!). When ready to mold, add the melted butter. Mold and set to rise up again. When light, mold into loaves, folding into each loaf the raisins and as many pieces diced citron. Let it rise (rise up!) again. Bake as you would loaves of bread. Butter the tops of the loaves when done. If desired, one of the loaves may be made into biscuits, omitting the raisins and citron.
