Hashed Mutton

  • Mutton
  • 1 pint of gravy or broth
  • 1 spoonful of mushroom ketchup
  • 1 spoonful of browning
  • Onion
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Flour
  • Butter
Cut your mutton into slices; put a pint of gravy or broth into a pan, adding one spoonful of mushroom ketchup and one spoonful of browning; slice in an onion, also add a moderate amount of pepper and some salt; then put it on the stove, and thicken it with flour and butter. When it boils, put in your mutton, keep shaking it till it becomes thoroughly hot, then put it into a deep dish, and serve it up.
