Hash

  • 6 ounces boiling water
  • 1 heaping spoonful flour
  • 1 Tbsp cold water
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 ounces butter
  • Cooked meat, finely chopped
  • Potatoes, boiled
Pour 6 ounces of boiling water into a saucepan. Mix the flour with 1 Tbsp of cold water and stir it in. Boil for 3 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Add salt, pepper and butter.

Remove all the tough, gristly pieces from the cooked meat. Chop fine with some boiled potatoes. Put in the dressing, heat through and serve like a rascal with a smile on your face.

You can serve the hash with buttered toast underneath or you may pop it in the oven to brown on top. You can also drop eggs into a skillet of boiling salt water and when cooked, place on top of the hash.

*It ruins the meat to cook it again, making it hard and unpalatable.
*If you have any leftover gravy, use it. In this case, you will require less butter, pepper and salt.
