French Ice Cream

  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 quart thin cream
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
Cook flour and part of milk in double boiler 10 to 15 minutes (be patient, you rascal). Add rest of milk with egg in it, sugar, cream, and vanilla. Freeze, using 1 part salt to 7 parts ice.
