French Crullers

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Few drops vanilla
Melt the butter in the water. Add salt. When the liquid boils, stir in the flour. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture forms a smooth, thick paste. Turn into a bowl. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating in each egg very through and through. Drop by teaspoons into hot, deep fat. Fry like doughnuts. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
