Federal Bread
- 1 quart milk, scalded
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 yeast cake, dissolved
- 1 Tbsp butter, melted
- 3 eggs
Add the melted salt and butter to the scalded milk. When cool, pour in the dissolved yeast cake and beat in enough flour to make a dough that is softer than for bread. Pour into a shallow pan and let it rise overnight. Bake the next morning.
When taken from the oven, split it shortcake fashion and butter generously. Serve hot.
