English Chutney Sauce

  • 1 pound apples, chopped
  • 3/4 pound raisins, chopped
  • 1 dozen ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 red peppers, chopped
  • 6 small onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped
  • 1 ounce white mustard seed
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 quart vinegar, boiled and cooled
Salt the tomatoes and let drain in a bag overnight. The remainder of the ingredients may be put through a meat chopper. This sauce demands no cooking but should be kept in a crock pot for 10 days. It should be stirred daily. Place in wide mouthed bottles, cork and seal.
