English Chutney Sauce
- 1 pound apples, chopped
- 3/4 pound raisins, chopped
- 1 dozen ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 2 red peppers, chopped
- 6 small onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped
- 1 ounce white mustard seed
- 1/4 cup salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 quart vinegar, boiled and cooled
Salt the tomatoes and let drain in a bag overnight. The remainder of the ingredients may be put through a meat chopper. This sauce demands no cooking but should be kept in a crock pot for 10 days. It should be stirred daily. Place in wide mouthed bottles, cork and seal.
