Crisp Cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs, well beaten
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsps cream of tartar
- 1 Tbsp milk
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Flour, sifted
Mix all of the ingredients together. Add enough flour to make a soft dough just stiff enough to roll out. Try a pint of sifted flour to begin with, working it in gradually. Roll the dough as thin as pie crust. Cut into round cakes with a cutter. Spread a small amount of milk over each and delicately sprinkle with sugar. Place on buttered baking pans. Bake in a quick oven at 400 degrees F to a light brown color.
