- Pepper and salt
- Butter
- 1/2 spoonful of flour
- Oysters

Cut up your chickens into nice pieces, season with beaten mace, nutmeg, pepper and salt. Lay a thin paste round the rim and bottom of a suitable dish; cut a small round piece out of the bottom of the crust; lay in the pieces of chicken, add a piece of butter with half a spoonful of flour worked into it, and small quantity of water; add some oysters and six yolks of hard-boiled eggs; lay a good puff paste over it; bake it one hour and a quarter. A veal pie may be made in the same manner, leaving out the oysters.
