Charlotte Russe

  • 1 pint milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp essence of vanilla
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 1 ounce gelatin
  • 1/2 pint water
  • 1 quart whipped cream
  • Lady fingers
Make a soft boiled custard by mixing the milk and eggs together. Flavor with essence of vanilla and sweeten with powdered sugar.

Dissolve the gelatin in water. Add it to the hot custard and stir until cold. Add the whipped cream.

Pour into a mold lined with lady fingers. Set in the refrigerator.
